Fred Perry is Director of Advanced Manufacturing at the Department for Business, Energy & Industrial Strategy, where he oversees the Centre for Connected & Autonomous Vehicles, the Automotive Transformation Fund, the Aerospace Technology Institute programme and Made Smarter Technological Adoption scheme. Alongside these programmes, Fred is responsible for BEIS interests in maritime, electronics and defence, as well as cross-cutting manufacturing policy on skills, digitilisation and supply chains. Prior to taking up this role, Fred held several roles in the Senior Civil Service across BEIS and the Department for International Trade having started his career in the Government Economic Service, including in the Prime Minister’s Implementation Unit.
